Orientation for ALL Students:
Parents and Students have the opportunity to meet their new teacher, get updates for the upcoming school year, and drop off student’s school supplies in their new classroom/homeroom.
ASC = After School Care available. You student(s) can attend ASC on half days as a drop-in if needed. ASC starts at 12:30pm to 6:00pm. Please confirm drop-in status at the school office.
Early Dismal = 12noon. Please note some early dismal dates do not have ASC.
Parent Lunch = The first Tuesday of every month, you are invited to have lunch with your student(s). Grandparents are welcomed to join. You can bring in lunch from a restaurant for your student and you to enjoy. There are snacks available to purchase in the cafeteria. When you arrive at SJB you will be greeted by students in the middle school, who will bring your student from their class. Parent lunch starts at 11am-1pm, students have up-to 1hour to eat with their family. Please note, younger grades eat lunch closer to 11am. If you are unable to attend Parent Lunch please notify your student’s teacher/homeroom teacher by email. Your student can either take a lunch from home or purchase a lunch from the catering company on campus.
Dollar Dress Day = Your student(s) have the opportunity to wear appropriate out-of-uniform clothes to school and give their teacher/homeroom teacher $1. Please refer to the Handbook for appropriate clothing.
Spirit Day Dress Day = 2nd Friday of the month students are allowed to wear their spirit shirts with blue jeans and give their teacher/homeroom teacher $1.
Church Festival = Great opportunity to volunteer with SJB and receive service hours.
Halloween Dance/Haunted House & Valentine’s Dance = ALL students and parents are welcomed to join in the festivities at the school. Halloween events students are encouraged to wear a costume.
Parades = Parades start at 2:30pm on the scheduled date. Parents and family are encouraged to view the parade outside the school and parking lot.
Mass Day = Every Wednesday is Mass Day. Students will wear mass uniform (please refer to the Handbook for more details). Parents and family are invited to attend Mass Day at 8:30amin the Church.
Cowboy Breakfast = Similar to the city event, early morning festivities are scheduled, your student(s) will need to purchase a wristband and have the SJB extracurricular activities waiver signed. Past events had food, games, music, and other activities. Another opportunity for service hours.
PTC Meetings = Are held monthly in the SJB cafeteria. You will receive a service hour for attending PTC Meetings. Various events and volunteer opportunities are available with the PTC for service hours.
Homeroom Parent(s) = A parent or parents will volunteer to assist your student(s) teacher door decorating, coordinating in class parties, field trips, Casino Night donation, and any other needed help for the class. If you are not the homeroom parent, you will receive communication from the homeroom parent about up-coming activities via notes in your student’s folder, emails, and/or text messages.

Getting Involved and Giving:
St. John Berchmans Catholic School relies on parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to give of their time, talent, and treasure to help us meet the mission of our school. Whether you want to volunteer to help with the PTC or special events, there are many ways to get involved at SJB.
You can also learn about the ways to support the school through gifts to The SJB Fund, sponsorships, the Principal’s Wish List, planned giving, or capital campaigns.
Parents ensure a spot for their children for the next academic year by completing our online re-enrollment process. Beginning February 2019, you will be able to access your online re-enrollment contracts. At that time, you may update your household profile, view and agree to school policies, and e-sign enrollment contracts. You will also have the option to submit your tuition deposit online by credit card or electronic check. Re-enrollment contracts and deposits are due May 1, 2019.
St. John Berchmans Catholic School Communication:
At St. John Berchmans Catholic School, we believe that communication is key to partnering with you. As parents, you will receive the following communications from us to let you know what's happening with our current students and the SJB community:
- Special Events (ex. 5K Run, Church Festival, Breakfast with Santa, and Casino Night)
- Giving Opportunities (ex. annual fund, capital campaigns, and scholarships)
- Our weekly school e-newsletter
- Emergency Communications
Please use the username and password you created to access RenWeb. RenWeb is SJB’s portal. The portal offers our parents, students, faculty, and staff a central place to communicate information such as:
- Grades, homework, schedules
- Account Information—access to FACTS
- Links, downloads, and forms
Summer at St. John Berchmans Catholic School:
Summer at St. John Berchmans Catholic School provides children of all ages with exceptional opportunities which are fun, challenging, and rewarding. Our goal is to encourage every camper to explore new friendships, tackle new obstacles, and work together in a team environment.

- Camp is offered from June to July.
- Campers ages 4-12 are welcome
- Camp are available from 7:30am – 2:30pm
- Camp is taught by highly qualified instructors and professionals from SJB
Summer Reading and Assignments:
Summer Reading and Assignments are released annually in early May.
School supply list are available in July. 2018-2019 School Supply List
Uniforms and Dress Code:
Student uniforms must be purchased from Flynn O'Hara located at 2108 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78213.
